The Goldenrods are Brendan, Marty, Jim and Ryan. The original Goldenrods (tagged Eddie Main and the Goldenrods) were a college band formed at SUNY Fredonia in western New York State. They played a few keg parties and recorded an EP at a campus studio.
As parties drifted apart and then toward New York City, the skyscrapers, bright lights and dirty air brought thoughts of home back to what would become the current Goldenrods lineup. Informed by an appreciation of such bands as Wilco, The Replacements, Centro-matic, and Superchunk, as well as songwriting legends like Neil Young and Gram Parsons, the four decided to give it a go again. Meeting in tiny apartments, big brownstones, and professional studios, The Goldenrods trade songs in moments off from day-jobs.
With a quality that is homespun yet real enough to sound right on a record, the Goldenrods are primed to raise their profile with some shows in the Northeast in 2005, as well as a forthcoming recording debut.
